Marena Germany Art Deco Style MOP Brooch with Fine Chain Fringe

This exquisite, highly collectible Marena oval fringed pendant brooch is lovingly handmade in Germany. It is composed of mother of pearl (MOP), aurora borealis rhinestones, gold-plated metal setting, and small (possibly faux) natural-look pearls. It is accented with a tapered, swagged fine chain fringe. The design of this gorgeous pin is reminiscent of Art Deco, with its stylized nature theme. It may be worn as a brooch, or as a pendant - there are two loops at the top of the back, so that it may be worn on a chain. The oval portion of the brooch is 1.75" wide and 1.25" long; with the fringe, the overall length is 3". Excellent condition. There is an embossed signature - "MARENA hand made in germany" - on reverse.

My limited research into Marena jewelry reveals that many, if not most, of the pieces are one-of-a-kind, and are frequently wrought with natural materials (such as MOP), with 18K gold plating. This brooch most likely dates from the 1980s or 1990s; the company's early designs reportedly were made in the Art Deco style.
